Not sure why, but often times marketing takes a back seat in business. If things are going well, it may not be a priority. Seems like it's not until sales slow down that marketing gets some respect- often when it's too late.
Sure, you may have an entire marketing department. But for the hundreds of thousands of small businesses out there, many times marketing is delegated to whomever has free time, or often falls on the owner's shoulders. And when things are busy, creating a marketing campaign is usually the last thing on anyone's mind.
So I'm challenging you to make a commitment in 2018. And what better time to do that?
Set a goal and make a plan. This is quick and easy to do. Grab lunch or go to Starbucks and brainstorm on a (clean:) napkin 5 or 10 marketing objectives you're going to tackle this year. Then place each objective into a month with a deadline. Then write down the initials of whoever is going to be responsible for accomplishing the objective. If it's you, don't get overwhelmed. Just put the plan in writing and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
Some of my goals this year include adding at least 400 informative marketing blog posts and articles. I am also overseeing merging our client contact lists into one platform (we completed our new website design and migration at the end of Dec. 2017 and need to complete some final tweaks such as combining the contact information.)
We're also planning on rolling out a featured client picture page. We would like to show some of the fantastic results our trade show displays and stands provide for customers' marketing solutions.
So grab that pen and napkin or paper or digital device and put your marketing plan in writing!
Best of luck for a successful 2018 marketing year!
Thanks for reading,
Cheers,
Chris
